As December winds down, Hanukkah celebrations have just concluded but I know there are others still looking forward to Christmas, Holiday recess, and the New Year. As we celebrate in our different ways, we can all be thankful for the solidarity that gives us strength to fight for what is right. One of the real joys this holiday season is the opportunity to say thank you for all of the work that you do both in the classroom and in constant support of ATA. I want to thank you for being part of our union, I don't take your membership for granted. Together, we as the union make life better here in the Amityville School District.
This time of year also brings out the best in people as they exchange gifts. I want to wish you the gifts of love, friendship and good health. May hope and happiness be yours during this time of the year and carry on into 2019. In the New Year, I encourage you to continue to look for ways you can get more involved.
As we near the end of Negotiations with the district please keep the afternoons of January 10th, and possibly (if 1/10/19 doesn't work out) January 17th open as we will need one or the other to have General Membership/Ratification Meetings to review changes in the contract. As these meetings will be on a Thursday, we will not vote on the new contract till the following Monday, allowing anyone with questions or concerns to have them answered
Season's greetings and all the best for the New Year.
